The foundation stone of this multi-purpose complex was laid in 1927. Two years later the athletic field was opened and the following year the two gymnasiums were opened. The original "exhibition pavilion" was also incorporated into the complex and suitably adapted to form a large ballroom with a foyer and changing rooms. In time, a Sokol cinema, restaurant and café were also added.
