The castle is one of the most valuable secular buildings of the Central European Baroque, located in the western part of the Podyjí National Park and is a national cultural monument. The Althanns, with the significant contribution of the imperial architect Johann Bernhard Fischer of Erlach, created the present form of the castle. The dominion was inherited by the Polish Mniszek family.
