The system of underground passages and cellars is almost 27 km long and has up to 4 floors. From two dates found underground, we now assume that the beginning of the construction of the tunnels dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The underground tunnels were originally built and connected over an area of 35 to 40 hectares under the historic core of the city.
